Irritable bowel syndrome is a condition that affects the digestive system, the exact cause of which is unknown.

What are the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome?

Irritable bowel syndrome can affect people of all ages, and you may have this condition if you suffer from:

  • Stomach pain and cramps
  • Bloating
  • Diarrhoea
  • Constipation
  • Incontinence

How is irritable bowel syndrome treated?

There is no cure for irritable bowel syndrome, however you can do a number of things to ease your condition. You should eat a healthy diet, exercise and keep a diary of what you eat. If symptoms flare up you should avoid the foods that caused these. You should also avoid processed foods, eat slowly and try to avoid stressful situations.
